Innovatrics is breaking the mold in facial recognition technology. Until recently, powerful servers or dedicated biometric devices were required for real-time identification. By running an efficient and tiny neural network for face detection directly on devices, Innovatrics Lightweight Facial Identification Service only needs kilobytes of data sent for post-processing and matching, instead of transmitting the entire video stream in megabytes.
Lightweight Facial Identification Service is a user-friendly API that facilitates the quick identification of individuals from a large database of facial images. It receives detected faces from the device cameras, which can either be facial crops or full-frame images, and matches them to faces in watchlists on the server. The scalable solution supports both cloud and local or onsite deployments for face identification, verification, and passive liveness on wild images. Moreover, everyday devices like smartphones, tablets, kiosks and smart glasses can simultaneously be used and transformed into powerful tools for enhanced security, making advanced facial recognition accessible to all.
Lightweight Facial Identification Service can also process a full-frame image captured by a device such as a smartphone with multiple faces on the image. Using the service, the Paraná state in Brazil has recently deployed a facial-recognition-based attendance system developed by Valid and Innovatrics, which resulted in significant savings on hardware costs without requiring any maintenance fees. Moreover, the new roll call system allows the instant identification of primary school public students, reducing teachers’ workload. The new process is to be implemented in more than 2,100 schools, benefiting close to 1 million students.
The versatility of this Identification service extends beyond traditional hardware deployment, making it an attractive option for various access control applications. System integrators can seamlessly employ the face identification or verification service without the need for physical HW infrastructure. This capability is particularly beneficial for short-term or one-time events with heavy visitor traffic, where setting up servers would be impractical.
