Universal Passport Reader, the latest feature added to Innovatrics Digital Onboarding Toolkit (DOT), is capable of reading any ICAO 9303-compliant passport in the world. Developed for fast and accurate MRZ reading, especially useful in e-visa issuance and travel-related applications, it enhances the document processing capabilities of our remote identity verification technology.
A user simply uploads a photo of the passport document. Once the image reaches the server, our algorithm recognizes the image based on the position of the corners, detects it is indeed a passport, and automatically locates the MRZ. It then gives a response from the server with the parsed MRZ. Compared to full document processing which is more time-consuming, it only takes half a second to read the MRZ. If necessary, the Near Field Communication (NFC) capability of a smartphone can be used to read the RFID chip on the document.
This new feature is particularly useful for travel-related use cases such as e-visa issuance. Using the Universal Passport Reader of Digital Onboarding Toolkit, system integrators can develop solutions that allow travelers to register remotely via their smartphones. For additional security, the NFC component of the smartphone can be used to read the RFID chip in the passport or travel document.
Universal Passport Reader is compatible with iOS, Android, and standard web interface. Contact us here to learn more about our solutions or arrange a demo.
